WOMEN GOING WILD is a multi-authored blog sharing stories of women who are exploring their wildness in outdoor adventures.
“Within every woman there is a wild and natural creature, a powerful force, filled with good instincts, passionate creativity, and ageless knowing. Her name is Wild Woman, but she is an endangered species. Though the gifts of the wildish nature come to us at birth, society’s attempt to “civilize” us into rigid roles has plundered this treasure, and muffled the deep, life-giving messages of our own souls. Without Wild Woman, we become over-domesticated, fearful, uncreative, trapped.” (Clarissa Pinkola Estes, in ‘Women Who Run with the Wolves’)
WOMEN GOING WILD is a blog sharing stories of women who are exploring their wildness. It is a forum for the voices of women who walk, run and dance along many paths. This is a blog about the potential of women to take up their birthright as the stewardesses of nature, as the keepers of stories of power, healing and transformation. It is about women who like to get dirty and women who are creating art, women who love passionately and women who mother and nurture. Wild women dance and sing, they paddle and hike, and know deep down what to do when they meet a bear on the trail. Wild women belong barefoot in the forest, and they may also be barefoot in the kitchen making a decadent chocolate mousse! Wild women claim their own space.
This blog is a place where a diversity of women gather to share their personal stories of discovery along the wild way. We will meet women who are business executives, women who write about sex, women who have climbed the worlds highest mountains and women who work for social justice and peace. The blog will convene a community of women who are poets, painters and dreamers. All women are welcome to go wild here. This is a place of spirit, of celebration, of sisterhood.
Wild Women Expeditions (www.wildwomenexp.com) is the host of this blog. We facilitate outdoor adventure travel for women in some of the most spectacular destinations across Canada. We believe there is something quite magical about women-only groups: the camaraderie, the respect for each other and the Earth.
When we meet ourselves in the wilderness, we can explore the undiscovered frontiers of our deepest being, play in a landscape of our humanity that is raw, elemental, free. Being a wild women is saying “Yes!” to our nature, our power, our deepest source. When we embrace our wild womenness, we become stronger, more connected and tuned in, a force for change in the world.
We are Women Going Wild – watch out!
