Maybe a good blog topic. Being new to the social media thing, the options are seemingly overwhelming. I've just started blogging. Along the way I had to set up a google account, or a google plus account (still trying to figure this one out) and various other attendant accounts. Then of course one needs an avatar, courtesy of gravatar, lest the world think that we are an anonymous box or Alfred Hitchcockian profile caricature (I had to check the spelling on this one). Facebook? Twitter? What? I don't even have a cell phone. Rebecca posted a piece on about me pages. That's cool I thought. So, I made one of those too. Any social redeeming value? Don't know. Do people really google aboutme.com and randomly seek new friends? It's like we've been sucked into a black hole. I guess that's enough for now. Where do you folks draw the line?

Some good observations on your part. My interest in massive doses of social media come and go. The one thing I've figured out without dumping a bundle of money is, I'm fine being stuck somewhere between dinosaur and rocketeer. I don't have an i-pad, i-phone or any such nonsense. I don't even carry a cell phone or wear a watch any more. I've got a slowly deteriorating computer which is just fine with me.
Google+, tried and tired of it. My blog does have a Facebook page which has been the best way to build an audience for me. No Twitter, Pinterest or Instagram. I have one moderately price digital camera which gets me through most situations where I need a camera. Oh and I can't talk on it. Who needs the interruptions.
My advice (not really asked for) take it slow, let it grow and enjoy it.
