Sometimes software, plugins, content management systems and so on…don’t play nicely together.
That’s what happened recently when I fell for the upgrade on our Community News Section. The upgraded (and NOT BETTER) Community News Section has not, at all, played nicely with all the other programs that run the entire OBN.
I know a lot of people have been really frustrated by time outs, errors, etc, etc, with probably the most popular feature here on the OBN and short of taking a hammer to my laptop, I haven’t been able to recreate the problem from my side.
BUT — I may have finally figured out the main problem. Our cache system. So for today I’ve turned off the cache system that helps make the OBN run faster so that I can get feedback from all the people who have had problems over the last month.
So if you are one of the people who haven’t been able to submit your latest blog post to the Community News feature, if you could try it today and let me know in the comments below whether it worked or not, I’d really appreciate.
On that note, if you have come to be OBN and it seems like it’s loading really slowing, I’d like to hear your feedback about that as well.
To be honest, it’s a toss up about which program is more important. A cache is really needed when you run a site as big as the OBN. I like to say, the OBN has a big butt and needs a cache raft to help keep it above water. But the Community News is really important as well!!
Anyway, I’d love your feedback and thank you everyone for your patience!!!
