Outdoor Gear Review Opportunity: Montana Fly Company Madison Reel

This week we are excited to bring all you Fly Fishing Bloggers an exciting opportunity from Montana Fly Company.

When Montana Fly Company launched their River Camo products, including aluminum and plastic fly boxes, reels and fly tying accessories I’d say the collective sound from Fly Fisherman everywhere was Wow…

They are still at it: By using digital coating technology to provide a distinctly unique look to fishing gear, MFC has created an assortment of Camouflage, Rainbow Trout, River Rock and Brown Trout patterns to accent any fisherman’s arsenal of must-have fishing accessories.

Up For Review This Week:

The Madison IIa Reel – Sundell’s Starlight

Sitting on my desk is a beautiful River Camo fly reel that is ready to be tested out, catch fish and be reviewed by 1 Fly Fisher.

The Madison IIa Reel – Sundell’s Starlight 4/5 weight

If you think you could put this reel to good use and are willing to write about your experience (so the rest of us know what we are missing out on) then it’s time to get your comment in on this opportunity from Montana Fly Company.

Winner will be announced Monday provided I’ve maintained my willpower and not ran off with it to the closest river. Patience is a fly fishing virtue, not willpower after all.

Before you pull that comment trigger: Gear Review Opportunity is open to OBN Members with an Active Blog on the Outdoor Blogger Directory. By Commenting on this Entry you confirm you have read the Reviewer Guidelines and agree to the terms and conditions. Comments will be accepted until Sunday at 5 p.m. MST. Winning comment (s) will be selected by the Random Number Generator and announced this coming Monday on the OBN. Please check back to see if the RNG has shined upon you, we don’t track down winners…

Good Luck Everyone!

That’s a good looking reel! I’d love to give it a try on some wild NC trout .

  2. 2

I’m a reel nut! I’d be willing to see if their reels are as good as their materials.

  3. 3

I’m a reel nut as well. Of course all mine are 30 to 40 years old!

  4. 4

    I’ll take one!

I’m in. This would not only be cool to fish with but it would make an awesome keepsake!

  7. 7

I only fly fish where there’s danger so this reel better be effective against charging wildlife. I’m in.

  19. 19

I live on the perfect river to test it on, the Guadalupe river in Texas. Home to the native Guadalupe bass, largemouth, smallmouth as well as fiesty Rainbow trout.

  20. 20

I will use this reel in many different states…. Alaska, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana and Arkansas.
Drifting, wading —- in Lakes, Ponds and especially rivers. In four different seasons throughout the year. That will be a report and story to be told.

  21. 21

Thank you MFC, and again OBN. I’ve not participated in awhile. The Bamboo wore me out.

  22. 22

I would be honored to put a piece of equipment as fine as that appears to the test. Thanks to MFC and OBN for yet another amazing opportunity!

  25. 25

COMMENTS on this post are now closed to the gear opportunity. Winner will be announced shortly.

Unless I finally give in and run off to the nearest river with it…

  26. 26

    Sign me up!!

  27. 27

I have several waters yielding many species that could give that reel a nice workout!

  28. 28

A lot of hunters take fly rods with them in the backcountry when hunting to help supplement their diet. I’m certain they would love to read a review on this reel. We are in Washington state and are surrounded by bodies of water that’ll give that reel a workout.

  29. 29

I would love to put an MFC through some Texas rivers and coastal fishing experiments.
