The Dog Days of Summer – with some Gear to Review!

Yes, we know we’ve been a bit lax in our OBN duties this summer.  Rebecca is, ummm,  ..   hmmm, …  – somewhere.  At least she’s probably fishing somewhere.  For those of you who don’t know her personally, she is apt to pick up and leave on an 8 hr. roadtrip at the drop of a  hat.  I wish I had her “get up and go” spirit.  But, alas, ….  As for me, my life has been completely absorbed in work.  Yuk.  But enough about us – time to get the Wednesday Gear Review Opportunity back and rolling.

On Thursday.

Since it is the middle of a long, hot summer, we’re going to offer up a few more pieces of clothing from AFTCO.  And, since summer means FISHING, we’re throwing in a few items from Berkley and Spiderwire.  Ready?  Remember how to do this?? (I know, it’s been a while)  Here we go …

AFTCO first partnered up with the OBN a few months ago and has agreed to provide some more gear for our great bloggers.  This offering consists of three different packages:

1)  An AFTCO long sleeve fishing shirt, a pair of AFTCO Original fishing pants, and an AFTCO Fathom hat.

2)  An AFTCO long sleeve fishing shirt, a pair of AFTCO waterproof pants, and a Fathom hat

3)  A Guy Harvey Performance shirt, and a Buff

Examples of the cool gear:

The ultimate “on the water” apparel for the hard-core fisherman.  This classic, long sleeve, technical vented fishing shirt is made of a 100%  poly micro ripstop that is so light and comfortable you will hardly know it’s on.  With 2 big front pockets, a hidden zipper pocket, vented back, mesh lined back yoke, this is a “must have” in your fishing wardrobe.  The vented shirts keeps you cool even on those hot summer days offshore.  Stain resistant coating, UV protection, handy utility loop, full button front, roll-up sleeve tabs.  Don’t settle for less, this is going to be the only vented fishing shirt you’ll need.

AFTCO original fishing pants from our mens line of performance fishing clothing.  Made from 3-ply supplex nylon just like our original M01 fishing shorts.  Quick dry, stain resistant, cordura lined pliers pocket, elastic waist, belt loops, zip fly, side entry pockets, this pant is perfect for most days on the water.  10″ ankle openings and 8″ zippers allow for an easy pant fit, even over your shoes.  Headed out for a day of saltwater fishing?  Make sure to throw these in your bag.  AFTCO fishing pants meet all of your needs.

aftco fishing sun maskAFTCO lure sun mask is an awesome addition to your saltwater fishing gear.  It can be worn as a fishing buff around the neck, or to cover the bottom of your face and ears, or to completely go over your face and head (so only your eyes will be showing).  If you are fishing offshore in the sun, our sun mask is the answer to keeping that burn off.  For all of you fisherman that forget to apply sunscreen, this is your ticket to UV protection.  Quick dry, anti-microbial, 100% polyester.  Camo + Lure fabric gives this saltwater fishing mask a cool look.

The next generation in performance sun protection/wicking fabrics are now here with this all new Guy Harvey print performance product.  With the same sun protection performance now so popular, this new product line also includes beautifully back printed Guy Harvey art done in a special sublimation print process to insure both detail and a soft hand.

  • 100% polyester fabric.
  • UPF 30+ Sun Protection.
  • Wicking fabric to keep you cool.
  • Contrast stitching.

For the fishermen,  Berkley has agreed to send the following:

1)  1 Berkley Schooling Rig Kit.  The “schooling bait rig” has emerged as the hottest new rig in fishing over the past year, and this offeringfrom Berkley has everything you need to try out these rigs.
