Outdoor Writing Prompt: My Outdoor Scary

My Outdoor Scary...

You all may have noticed that in our Quick Fire Interview, the last question is always the same.

The Courage Question that asks everyone what they would do when faced with a Grizzly Bear.

I have a selfish reason for putting that question into everyone’s interview, I’m gathering idea’s and escape possibilities.

That’s because the Grizzly Bear scenario is my worst Outdoor scary.

I’ve never had a bear encounter…yet. But I’ve had years to imagine it in my mind and I can tell you, my buns don’t survive in any of my overactive minds scenarios.

So this writing prompt asks: What is your Outdoor Scary? What is the one thing you hope never happens to you in the outdoors? Is it an animal attack? Is it getting lost? OR how about this…what IS the scariest thing that has ever happened to you in the Outdoors?

Feel free to write your answer on your Outdoor Blog and remember to come back here and enter the Blog Link into the Linky tool so we can all come read about your Outdoor Scary. If you don’t have a whole blog posts worth of scary, feel free to answer in the comments below.

And please…if you have a bear story, share it. I’m gathering mental ammo for the inevitable day when I need to sacrifice my backside.

  1. 1

I have this fascination with lightning. I know it’s not smart to be out there, but I can’t help myself. I think it’s the sheer power of it that attracts me.

Put up the end of a three part I wrote last year.

  2. 2

I have had my share of “scary” moments outdoors. I will pick one out and share this week.

  3. 3

Hell Night on the River – main channel of the Ohio… three ..count em three violent thunderstorms during a bowfishing tournament.. did I mention that bowfishing boats are essentially floating lightning rods? Yeegads… three trips ashore to seek shelter, clinging to sheer rock bluff faces… oh my.. hmmm should do a post about that ..and will soon as it’s bowfishing season here in Southern IL!

Nice writing prompt, Rebecca. I just finished my response to this one.

Is it too late to contribute to this? I know this prompt has been up for awhile, but I just started my blog and I thought this looked like an interesting prompt so I wrote a fictional piece for it, but the linky is closed so I can’t submit it that way.

Sorry about the two “Bear Meat” posts and the “northwest trek” post. Kept trying to get it right. I am new to this procedure. You can still see our story at http://www.northwesttrek.net.
