1) Outdoor Activity of choice? My absolute favorite is nature photography, but hiking, hunting, fishing, trapping, tracking animals and shooting (gun and bow) are all near the top of the list. This year I want to fish more.
2) Outdoor Mornings. Up at 5 a.m.? 6…7…8…9…Or when the sun heats up the tent and you can’t take it anymore? Generally I am not a morning person but I don’t get much sleep the night before a fun outdoor activity, so I’ll say early enough to not spoil the fun
3) Snicker Bar or Granola Bar on the trail? Neither, but definitely some kind of chocolate bar, my current favorite is Slim Fast Chocolate Fudge Brownie Bars (sounds like an oxymoron, doesn’t it!)
4) Your Birthday is coming. What outdoor (dream) present should we all chip in to buy you this year? Man, there are a bunch that would make the list but let’s go big and say a log cabin in the Rockies! Since you all are chipping in, right?
5) Seven days in the Alaskan Wilderness or Seven days on a Tropical Beach? For me individually, nothing better than Alaska. Considering I’m a family guy though, the family gets a say and we would be spending the week at the beach.
6) What kind of Outdoor Store would you own? I would love to own an archery store and also a hiking/camping/kayaking store; both would be great but with either, I would focus on getting kids involved in the outdoors.
7) Finish this sentence: When I was a little kid, I loved to go outside and… EXPLORE!!!! I would load up a backpack and have the adventure of a lifetime every day! I am never bored outside.
8 ) Do you have an Outdoor related item that is priceless to you? What is it and why? Probably my camera but I don’t worry too much about the possessions, just being in nature is what is priceless to me.
9) Fill in the blank. When I head outdoors I need to have________Hat_________with me? Unfortunately, a hat. I am hair challenged so sunburn in the summer and frostbite in the winter are real issues for me.
10) What’s the story behind your blog name? When I started my blog, I struggled with a name that would capture the spirit of what I was trying to accomplish. One day I was telling my wife about it and she replied, “How about Taking A Walk On The Wild Side?” Cha-Ching!
Courage Level Question: It’s You and a Grizzly Bear face to face on the trail. Knowing yourself, will you 1) Hold your ground and see who blinks first 2) throw your gear at the Grizzly and run for your life or 3) faint on the spot?
Definitely number one only because I would be trying to take a great photo. I mean, who can brag that they’ve got a great photo of a Grizzly charge? The camera would probably be the only item the authorities recovered, but who knows, there may be a great photo on the memory card…
