OBN Friday Notes:

Please Welcome Future Outdoorsman Landon!

Future Bass Angler of the Year, and Outdoor Blogger? We’d like to congratulate Nick from the blog Brookfield Angler and his wife Rachel on their new baby boy Landon. I imagine Landon’s baby book will look like this: Milestone – crawled! Milestone – walked! Milestone – caught his first bass!!! Well done you two!!

Blogger Gear Review: Hodgeman’s Thoughts on the Great Outdoors has reviewed the Hornady Lock-N-Load here. We have re-posted his review here. If you are in the market for doing your own ammunition, be sure to check out this thorough and detailed review!

Blogger Gear Review: Jody White’s Fishing has reviewed the Plano FTO Organizers here. We have re-posted it on the log here. If your tackle boxes are looking a bit scattered these days, take a peek at these handy tackle organizers. Your crankbaits will thank you!

Blogger Gear Review: Drew’s Adventures in Fishing-Man Powered Outdoors has reviewed the Gerber Answer SM pocket knife here. We put in on the log here. Every outdoors enthusiast needs a good pocket knife, so be sure to check out this review and see if a Gerber is right for you.

Blogger Gear Review: Brookfield Angler has reviewed the Abu Garcia Revo SX on his blog here. We have posted it on the log here. If you have worn out your reel this summer season, take a look at his review of the Abu Garcia, it just might be the reel you’ve been wanting!

Blogger Gear Review: The Flying Kayak has reviewed the Plano Waterproof Guide Series Boxes here. We have noted on the log here. If your gear has gotten soaked this season, be sure to check out this review and find out a great way to keep your valuables nice and dry.

Social Media Follows:

Twitter: Time to click follow on the twitter handle @Mia_Anstine . She is a great connection, always friendly and writes a great blog at My Many Outdoor Adventures. Tweet Tweet ~

Facebook: Click here to “like’ the Facebook page Fly Fishing Texas.  You won’t miss out on important updates, you’ll keep in the loop and you’ll always know what’s going on over at the blog Texas Fly Fishing Adventures.  It’s good to keep in the loop.

Google +: Ok, I was going to see if I could do this for Google+ but apparently, I still have no idea what I’m doing with that new social media circle. Does anyone know how you would share a potential ‘follow’ on Google+? Until then, I need to go play around in there some more =)

Ok now, Summer is winding down so I hope everyone enjoys this weekend for all it’s worth. Have fun, be safe, take lots of pictures then come back to your blogs and let us all know what you did. Catch you next week!

    Here’s the down low on G+ –

You don’t “follow” you “circle.” You find people you want to connect with and put them into “circles.” You can edit Circles or create new ones. I’ve got three primary Circles: Fishing Friends, Photography Friends and Blogger Friends. Sometimes, people overlap the various circles – you’re in my Fishing Friends and Blogger Friends. Now, here’s the cool part – you don’t have to “follow” (Circle) people back when they Circle you! So, if you add me to your fly fishing Circle, I don’t have to do a thing. I don’t approve it, I don’t have to add you to anything, nada.
And if you haven’t spent 2.5 hours in a Google Hangout ( videochat) trying to help River Damsel get her connection and speakers working – wellllllll, you don’t know what you’re missin there, either. :) lol

If you have Google + questions, I can probably help. I’m already deep into the heart of that beast and neglecting my poor, broken, misguided and slowly dying Facebook pages. Markie Z. is probably not sleepin’ well these days.

PS – I have 140 ( that’s right 140 ) invites, people – so if you need one just let me know and I’ll unload them on ya. :)
    Oh, almost forgot! haha!

Congrats to the proud parents and thanks for all the cool reviews everyone!

Owl nailed it – BTW, if anyone needs an invite to Circles a have few left…

    Thank you, OBN!!!

    I’m already done with Google+
Don’t have the time or interest in going any further and I’ll be getting rid of it soon as I can figure out how. Everyone I know and keep in touch with is on Facebook and they won’t be going anywhere any time soon. So, what’s the point of moving.
If I made my living fishing, hunting and writing about it, I would reconsider. But I don’t so G+ is just a waste of what little free time I have.
Pretty much the same reason I don’t bother with Twitter.
My phone only makes phone calls, no text messages, no RSS feeds, no internet access and I like it that way. If I’m interested in anything anybody is doing, I’ll look it up when I get home from work or I’ll call you.

I rely heavily on what you do on OBN, all the features, community news, new bloggers and on and on.

    That’s enough info.
