OBN Friday Notes: Halfway

It’s halfway through July so does that mean technically we are halfway through summer? As in…already??? The weather has been so strange in my neck of the woods this year that everything seems off canter of sorts. The rivers, the weather, the snow pack I can still go visit and make a snowcone have all thrown my normal summer routines off and I feel like I’m still in May.

The only justice to the situation would be Fall coming really, really late…

Outdoor Blogger Gear Review: Robin from the blog Appalachia & Beyond has reviewed a pair of Vasque Taku GTX hiking boots here.  And we of course re-posted it on the gear log here. If your feet are hurting and in need of a sturdy pair of summer hikers, be sure to check this review out from a skeptical boot wearer.

Outdoor Blogger Gear Review: Karl from Live Free and Hike: A NH Day Hiker’s Blog has posted his review of the Coleman Lantern and power packs. We have logged it here. This review shows how handy our outdoor gear can be even in our own homes. Check out how Karl used his set of Coleman gear to keep his house light and charged during a mock New Hampshire shut down.

Outdoor Blogger Gear Review: The 3 Foragers have reviewed the Gerber Machete Pro here. We have logged it here.  I’ve always wanted a machete and now that I’ve read this review I know I need to get one. Just because…If you head out into the outdoors and would like something along that can whack through just about anything, then be sure to check out this review.

Outdoor Social Media Follows:

Twitter: Check out the twitter handle @Maybetonight of the blog Maybe Tonight Charters. Always friendly, always engaging in conversation. In other words, my kind of Twitter Bird.

Facebook: If Facebook is your thing then you don’t want to miss out clicking the ‘like’ button of Southern Oregon Fishing ~ blog of the same name found here.  Keep track of the newest blog posts, fishing outings and add alittle fun to your Facebook news stream.

We hope everyone has a wonderful Outdoor Themed Weekend!!!

Thanks for the Facebook shout out guys.

I keep hearing about all this awful weather- intense heat in the south and central US, and all the snowpack and high water out west. With all the crappy weather we get here in Michigan, all I can say is, we’re having a picture perfect Northern Michigan summer, and I couldn’t be happier. Now if I could just find more time to fish.
