Which got me really hungry while reading along…. And then got me thinking about the things we really enjoy when we go into the Great Outdoors, but don’t normally eat when we are stuck at home.
Things like S’mores and dutch oven cooking delights and campfire roasted onions and so on….(and snicker bars)
So this writing prompt is:
Share your favorite outdoor food.
For example, someone once showed me that if you put a banana in tin foil, toss in a few marshmallows, a couple of squares of chocolate, wrap it up and toss it on the edge of the fire pit for about 5 minutes (or less if it’s really hot)….walla… banana split, campfire style!
Another great example I’m plinking off the forum thread came from Anbblog of Appalachia & Beyond - Tacos in a bag – Crunch up doritos, cook your hamburger meat over the fire or coleman stove, add taco seasoning of course, add shredded lettuce, cheese, sour cream and diced tomatoes all in a zip lock. Shake it up and eat it right out of the bag (I can’t wait to try this one!)
So lets read about the yum factor. Tell us your campfire, hiking, going fishing and so on….must have food. The one (or two or three) food item(s) you look forward to when you go outdoors. Even better, if it’s something you cook, Share your recipe with everyone! Don’t forget to come back here and submit your link to the linky system so everyone can enjoy.
