Outdoor Photo Prompt: Lets see where the Outdoor blog ‘work’ gets done

Photo Prompt was suggested by Kari Murray of the blog I don’t Wear Pink Camo to the Woods.

Where the Blog Work Gets Done

I think we can all agree that we’d much rather be outside playing then indoors sitting behind a computer. But since we are all required to go home occasionally and we are Outdoor Bloggers, we end up behind a computer from time to time working on our Outdoor Blogs.

So lets see those Outdoor Blog Work stations. Do you have an Outdoor view from your computer? Can you see snow right now or are you one of the lucky ones down South surrounded by green?

Is your computer area a bit like mine? Littered with Diet Coke cans and snicker bar wrappers? Are you on a big PC or a little laptop? This prompt completes the picture a bit more for readers of your blog. Show them where you work and they’ll be able to picture you there writing up your Outdoor Observations.

Attention: The other day we asked for feedback about the site and one idea I’m implementing today came from Extreme Adventure News. He said, “When you do a “Writing Prompt”, perhaps make a post listing all of those that have contributed. That way links are going back and forth to all of the sites. I think a link in a post is more lucrative, traffic wise, than a link to your own post left in a comment.”

I read that and thought….I can find a system to achieve that sort of blogger interaction. So below is what I’d like to try for this photo prompt. If all goes well, once you have posted your Blog post, come back here and click the “Click Here To Enter” below and fill your blog information/photo into the form. The result should be visual thumbnails of your blog picture that people can click and go directly to your blog site.

Hints:
1)Make sure and connect a your blog post URL to your photo or it will link back to the OBN
2) Click the Web Option and it will grab your most recent blog pictures as your thumbnail option

Here’s to crossing my programming fingers! I hope everyone likes this enhancement and if not, I’ll try a different one! Let me know if you encounter any issues in the comments below.

My portable work station, with my little helper Porky the Hogg nosed snake..

Hmmmm….I see two new thumbnails up there, but they are linking to the OBN…..Jim? By any chance did you just upload photos and not connect it to a blog post on your blog?

  3. 3

    No I connected it…

Sorry Jim, new program! I’m not sure what happened there. I did a second test (the fish picture) from my personal Outdooress blog and it links back there now…..mind trying again?

  4. 5

I connected it from my server, maybe that it why it comes back here?, a ping effect on the linky tools end maybe>>?

Hmmm, I don’t know. I definitely want to work out the kinks, I think the visual thumbnails up in the post would be a great benefit to everyone who does the prompt. I’ve already had people twitter me that tried clicking on your thumbnails to visit your site saying they didn’t work……so I know this will be an effective blogger interaction!

Go and delete the two pics, and Ill try from a webpage, thanks

  6. 9

I guess not (good to know) and I’ll leave all of our comments up in case anyone else has the same issues. Porky the Hogg nosed snake almost blends into the top of your laptop!

Thanks for incorporating my idea. I like how you incorporated this into the OBN blog post with the linky widget. I have never seen that before.

  12. 19

Well, there ya go. Best I could do. Trust me, you don’t want to see the “real” blogger at work. ;) LOL

  13. 20

That was an easy prompt…exactly what I needed for this week! http://theriverdamsel.blogspot.com/2011/01/my-workerrr-weather-station.html

Doing some computer work via riverside today with 60′ weather here in Denver today~

  15. 23

Wonderful day in Denver and wonderfuller tomorrow. (no work and 55 degrees!)
I wish the “linky thing” would have let me post the whole photo, but it’s pretty cool.

  16. 25

That was fun. It’s nice to see and hear from everybody else from their special writer’s spots – looking forward to seeing more.
