It’s days like this that I wish I could enter the OBN gear review opportunities. The Fly Fisher in me is green olive-ish with envy….
Envy you wonder? Well yes, lets look at the facts here:
Montana Fly Company is sending three generous packages out to three lucky Fly Fisherman to enjoy, tinker with, tie flies, place said flies in a new fly box, test and review. Let’s just hope they remember us little people…..(I’m low on midge patterns)
Ok, here we go, the Random Number Generator has spoken and is about to make three Fly Fisherman very happy indeed.
Package one goes to Comment #59 who turned out to be Brad Sprinkle of the blog Trash Flies. His comment #58 was his bonus entry for heading over to the Montana Fly Company Facebook Page and hitting that ‘like’ button. Everyone’s a winner there….
Package two goes out to Comment #22 who is Justin from the blog Foggy Mountain Meanderings. Looks as though his ‘like’ bonus comment sealed the deal for him as well and Mr. Random Number Generator returned the ‘like’ favor.
Package three is headed to comment #35 which was his ‘like’ entry too! (I just push the generate button here guys) Anyway, the lucky commenter turned out to be Tom Sadler of the blog Dispatches from the Middle River. So we’ll be waiting to read his dispatch review on how everything worked for him in the coming months!
Congrats winners! We all look forward to reading your reviews in the future. Remember, MFC is choosing which thread and patterns you’ll receive , so that part will be a surprise. I realize today the error of my ways with this gear review opportunity. I should have put in a sub-clause to the whole deal. Something like….
“Winners will be required to tie a few flies for all the non-winners and administrators of the opportunity”

Can’t take credit for that. The guys at Blue Ribbon Flies turned me on to it a few years back. It is my go-to nymph. I don’t tie as well as they do however. Did a post on my variation, http://middleriverdispatch.com/2009/01/tying-the-shop-vac/
